… and surely a day with thy Lord is as a thousand years of your counting. (Qur’an 22: 47) He directs the affair from heaven to earth, then it goes up to Him in one day, whose measure is a thousand years of your counting. (Qur’an 32: 5) Ibn Abbas, the prophet's cousin, and the best interpreter of the Holy Qur'an, said in interpreting these verses, more than 1400 years, that the speed of God's orders from heaven to earth and back, in one day equals one thousand years of our counting. The Arabs measure time by the lunar year. Hence if we apply this principle to the rotation of the moon in one thousand year, we find that according to scientific calculations, its speed in 299792.5 kilometer per second. This result is in complete conformity with the speed of light according to Einstein’s theory of relativity. Dr. M. Hassab El Naby adds that according to Enstein “the speed of light is an absolute constant,” while time and place are relative. This fact is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and is miraculous confirmation of the theory of relativity. To Him the angels and the spirit mount up in a day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. (Qur’an 70: 4) In this verse God mentions another speed which is fifty times the speed of light, namely the speed of "angels and the spirit". Miraculously, this verse is void of the words "of your counting", which is a clear indication that we will never reach this speed because it is beyond our modest means. What is interesting is that God states that the speed of angels varies: Praise belongs to God, originator of heavens, and earth who appointed the angels to be messengers having wings two, three and four, increasing creation as He wills surely God is powerful over everything (Qur’an 35:1) Dr. M. Hassab El Naby says in his book: Einstein's work in relativity allows for the existence of slower-than-light particles (called tardyon) such as people, atoms positrons, as well as hypothetical faster than light particles (called tachyons). No one has ever seen a tachyon which must have an imaginary proper mass! Tachyons travel with infinite speed (in no time!). Any process involving tachyons can be viewed in such a way that effect happens before the causes!!! He gives us a very indicative illustration from the Holy Qur'an, above the speed of light in chapter 27 verses 38 – 40, we read. He said, “O council, which one of you will bring me her throne, before they come to me in surrender?” An efreet of the jinns said “I will bring it to thee, before thou risest from thy place, I have strength for it and I am trusty.” Said he who possessed knowledge of the Book," I will bring it to thee, before ever thy glance returns to thee”. Then, when he saw it settled before him, he said. "This is of my Lord's bounty that He may try me, whether I am thankful or ungrateful”. This interesting story is form the story of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba "may hint at a velocity faster than light." Dr. Yehya Said El Mahgary in his book "Qur’anic Verses in the Light of Science," completes the picture which Dr. M. Hassab El Naby started. He says that matter and energy are two faces of the same coin. That is to say matter could be transformed into energy, and energy into matter. Man has partly succeeded in transforming matter into energy and vice versa. Yet complete control of such a process is still limited and in its first stage of development. To achieve advanced, scientific progress in transforming matter into energy and energy into matter requires highly sophisticated technical equipment. The main difficulty lies in the exact rearrangement of particles and atoms into their former image. If man one day succeeds in such a process, radical changes will occur in his life. As a result the matter that has been transformed into energy could be sent at light speed (or faster) on microwaves to any place and then transform it back into matter!!! So, we might be able to send, for example, a whole house to any place on earth or even to any planet in a few seconds!!! If we analyze the story of the throne of the Queen of Sheba, we notice that there are two types of jinns. An ordinary jinn who offers to bring the throne to Solomon “before thou risest from thy place”. The other jinn" who possessed knowledge of the Book" ie a more learned one, ie a scientist, he offers to “¼¼. Bring it to thee, before even thy glance returns to thee”. Dr. El Mahgary says that the logical interpretation of what that scientist jinn made, was that he first transformed the throne into a kind of energy which could have been something like electrical or light power which could be sent through electromagnetic waves. And because the speed of scattered magnetic waves is the same as the speed of light ie 300.000 kilometer per second, it arrived at Solomon in less than a second. The last step was that he transformed this energy into matter in exactly its former condition ie every atom returned accurately to its former condition. We notice that the scientist jinn had succeeded, more than two thousand years ago, in what we have failed in the twenty first century. Man could not up till now control properly and successfully such a complicated process. This does not mean that this process is a myth, but it means that scientists jinns have greatly surpassed us in the field of space science and space travel. Their success in this field may be because they have the advantage of being made of fire i.e. energy, while we are made of matter. In chapter 72, they say: And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. We would sit there on seats to hear, but any listening finds a meteor in wait for him. From what is written here and elsewhere in this book, a very far-fetched idea came to my mind, which could be a reality in future. We all know that quails emigrate in autumn from Europe to the African shores and Sinai, and return to Europe in spring. Such fragile birds could not have crossed the Mediterranean Sea, flying for days without food, water or even rest. Scientists discovered the mystery of such strenuous trips. They discovered that there are air current routes coming from Europe in autumn, and others going back in spring. These intelligent small birds made use of these routes. They know very well how to find them and make use of them. These air current routes carry these birds in a very short time and take them to their warm destinations without much effort. By analogy there must be routes or passages similar to these in space. Hence it is our duty to find them and use them in space travel, especially if they would coast almost nothing. Yet, the problem of man's ability to bear such very high speed remains. So, if scientists could solve this very difficult and complicated problem, the trip could be done in no time and with minimum expenses!!! On the relativity of time, Dr. El Fandy tackles it from another angel. He says: in his book “On Cosmic Verses in the Holy Qur’an “ ¼.we notice that stars or planets do not complete their revolution around the sun at equal intervals.
